Is your solution customized?
Yes, our Standard solution is customized. The factors that we consider are – your skin type, eye color, hair color, and what shade of tan you want.
Are orange tones or streaks something I need to worry about?
No. We make our solution with high quality DHA that is made from sugar cane and organic sugar cane as opposed to beta-carotene (carrot extract). This guarantees that your tan will be golden brown. In addition, our airbrush artists are highly experienced and trained to avoid streaks and unevenness.
What should I do to prepare for my tan?
It is recommended that you shower and shave before your tanning session. A glycerin soap is ideal because it leaves the least amount of residue behind on your skin. (We recommend that oil-based soaps should not be used.) You should shower a few hours before your session, not immediately before. To have your tan last longer, you should exfoliate beforehand. We suggest you use a sugar scrub along with exfoliating gloves (available at most salons). You also shouldn’t be wearing any makeup, deodorant, perfume, etc on your skin.
How should I dress to my appointment?
We recommend you wear dark, loose fitting clothes and flip flops. (The cosmetic bronzer in the solution has a chance to rub off on your clothes. It’ll wash out of most materials, but it is best to stay on the safe side and not wear light color clothing.)
How should I dress during my treatment?
Women are welcome to wear as much or as little as you are comfortable with – just keep tan lines in mind! Men, we ask that you at least wear underwear, speedos, or swim trunks.
How much time should the appointment take?
Exactly 20 minutes, so please be punctual. If it’s your first time, we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early so that you can fill out our waiver and receive your consultation from our airbrush artist.
How long do I need to wait before I can workout or shower?
We strongly suggest that you wait at least 8-12 hours before you sweat or get wet after your Tan Yer Hide Mobile Spray Tanning session. For best results wait 1-24 hours.
First after shower. For your first post Tan Yer Hide Spray Tan shower make it a water shower. You can use soap in the important areas. You will see color rinse off but this is ONLY the cosmetic bronzer, not the DHA.
How long should I expect the tan to last?
It depends on your skin type, skin exfoliation cycle, lifestyle, and care. It most common for it to last a minimum of a week and can possibly last as much as 2 weeks. To increase the longevity of your tan, you should apply our BRONZED Tan Extending Moisturizer once daily. Long showers, sitting in Jacuzzis, sweating heavily, and swimming in salt water will all dry out your skin.
Will an airbrush tan look natural on fair skin?
Yes. We customize solutions that will work with your specific skin tone. If this is your first time spray tanning, we recommend choosing a lighter shade for your first session. (A follow up appointment may be required the next day.)
Why does the tan on my face fade faster?
The skin on your face is thinner than the skin found on other parts of your body. The face also requires more frequent washings because it is more exposed to the elements. Also, anti-aging creams, makeup, astringents, etc. typically break down the tan quicker.
Will I be protected from the sun with an airbrush tan?
No, it doesn’t. Remember to always wear oil-free SPF!
Should I shave right before my tan?
Shave/wax at least 8 hours before your Tan Yer Hide Spray Tan session to minimize irritation.
Can I tan if I have a sunburn?
Sunburns have a possibility of peeling, which will peel your Tan Yer Hide Spray Tan off. Do not get a Spray Tan until your skin has peeled.
Why do some sunless tans start to become patchy when they fade?
The active ingredient in airbrush tanning solution is the naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acid, DHA (dihydroxyacetone). The DHA reacts with your dead skin cell’s proteins, resulting in a bronzing effect. Therefore, as your skin goes through its natural exfoliation process, these dead skin cells shed. It is important to note that not every cell sheds at the same rate. You may have some “tanned” cells that remain or last longer than others. (The result of this is an appearance of dark spots that looks similar to freckles.) This has no correlation to your airbrush technician or the solution. Keep in mind that this process tends to be a bit more noticeable when you choose a shade that is significantly darker than your natural skin color. However, you can usually counter act this by moisturizing with the “Forever Tan” extending moisturizer or the “Soft Tan” daily moisturizer without DHA.
If I have really dry skin, will it affect my airbrush tan?
Your tan may fade unevenly due to dry skin. (This is typically a concern during the winter months.) We recommend that you moisturize twice a day for a week leading up to your tanning session if you have dry skin. We also suggest that you apply non oil-based lotions to the dry areas on your skin just before your session.
Is spray-on tanning safe for pregnant and/or breastfeeding mothers?
DHA, hasn’t been tested extensively on pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. But, DHA is found in breast milk. It’s been approved and safely used in skin care, makeup, and sunless tanners for more than 30 years. We recommend that clients ask their dr. for an approval before booking a session.
When should I book my bridal trial tan?
Brides should keep their tan subtle. The white of your dress is already going to make the tan pop and you always want to have a more natural look in photos that you’ll keep forever. While the treatment should be done a couple of days before the wedding, we recommend the trial tan be done 2 weeks to a month in advance. This way the bride can ensure they are getting the exact depth of color they desire. The pre-wedding tan will be scheduled for 1 to 3 days before the wedding depending on the bride’s preference.
Brides who are having their make-up professionally applied should try to arrange the tanning trial before the make-up trial so the make-up artist can match your make-up to your tanned skin tone.
We can assist you throughout your entire wedding season- Engagement Party, Bridal Shower, Bachelor/Bachelorette Party, or just because!
